The department serves a population of 50,000 people covering an area of more than 100 square miles made up of Sandy Shores, Harmony, Chumash, Grapeseed, Tongva Hills, Paleto Bay, as well as the Grand Senora Desert and the Chilliad Mountain State Wilderness.

As the region’s emergency ambulance service, we respond to dozens of ‘911’ calls each day. To manage that level of demand, we employ approximately 20 staff and operate from two different stations across the county. Alongside this work we also provide emergency responses to fires, complex rescues, road crashes, emergency medical calls and hazardous chemical spills.
Our people are highly trained and ready to respond to emergencies regardless of terrain, from isolated canyons and foothills to rural townships, coastline and state facilities.
